When you begin distance learning with your preschooler I encourage you to create a space for them to work. Make sure you let them be apart of the process, it is THEIR space and they should be comfortable in it. This is how I set up my sons distance learning area. You will want to make sure all materials are available to your preschooler and that there are no distractions. I have a desk with all his writing materials (pencils, crayons, markers, etc.) organized against the wall and within reach. I put all of his sensory activities in one cubby on his shelves (kinetic sand, playdoh, etc.). The craft materials are also on his desk, but I stored things like glue, scissors, and paints up high in my kitchen. These are materials I do not want him using without supervision! Finally, all of his free choice options are spread throughout the area. I do not have a reward system set up (yet), but I believe having some sort of reward system is always helpful. I use "brownie points" at school and my preschoolers earn them when they listen, work quietly, stay on task, try their best, and make good choices. Finally, I think it is very important to have a timer to keep you and your preschooler organized. This will help with establishing a routine and sticking to it! Below I am sharing some more pictures of Benny's learning area...I would love to see some photos of your learning area when you are done! Work together and HAVE FUN!
